College Scholarships
NOVEC's 2024 Scholarship Application Opens December 1, 2023, and deadline is March 1, 2024.
Each year, NOVEC provides local area high school students the opportunity to apply for college scholarships. The scholarships award $1,500 to high school students in five counties where NOVEC provides electric service — Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford, and in the City of Manassas Park. Students may attend public, private or home school. One scholarship will go to a student attending an HBCU, and another to a student attending a vocational or trade school. Because the majority of NOVEC customers live in Prince William, Fairfax and Loudoun counties, two $1,500 scholarships are awarded in these counties. Applicant residence must be currently served by NOVEC.
After the scholarships are awarded, another review will be conducted of the winners and selection committees will award the $1,500 Garber Scholarship to the top outstanding student. This student will receive a total of $3,000.
The Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives deadline for scholarships is April 1, 2024. Application opens February 1, 2024.
The VMDAEC Education Scholarship Foundation will award $1,000 scholarships to high school and home-schooled seniors whose parents or guardians are members of NOVEC or one of 14 other electric cooperatives in Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland. The foundation will select recipients based on financial need, academic achievement, and personal statements.
Applicants must be entering college or a technical/trade school in fall 2023. Find the application and guidelines at vmdaec.com/scholarship.
VMDAEC will send scholarship funds directly to a recipient’s chosen educational institution for help with tuition, room and board, student fees, or book purchasing.
